KATRA, July 2: International Wrestler Hitesh (Kala) of Bahadurgarh, Haryana lifted the 7th Panya Kesari Dangal Title 2018 by defeating Wrestler Sukh of Babbyaali, Punjab in the first malli bout that lasted for 17 minutes at Govt High School, Panya Dager (Akhnoor).
The first malli bout Wrestler Hitesh was cash awarded with Rs 45,000 along with traditional Gurj (Gadda) and Patta of Panya Kesari and Turban by Joint Secretary, J&K State Sports Council Shiv Kumar Sharma, Social Activist and Wrestling Promoter Ram Paul Sharma and Raj Kumar of Jallandhar while runner-up Wrestler Sukh got Rs 40,000 by Naib Tehsildar Mahesh Chander Sharma, Deep Raj and Padam Dev.
Treasurer Indian Style Wrestling Association of India Shiv Kumar Sharma who is also Associate Vice President Wrestling Federation of India, President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association and President Senior Citizens Welfare Forum Katra was the chief guest on the occasion who witnessed the whole event and encouraged the youth to participate in there types of rural & hilly sports. He also distributed cash prizes of Rs 3,00,000 among the Wrestlers.
Vice President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association Ram Paul Sharma presided over the function. Nain Tehsildar Mahesh Chander Sharma, Wrestling Promoter Deep Raj Sharma and Leading Businessman of Jallandhar Raj Kumar Sharma were the guests of honour.
Raj Kumar Sharma contributed 2,25,000 as financial aid to the organizers while Ram Paul Sharma contributed Rs 50,000 as financial aid for the conduct of one day long Wrestling Competition (Dangal). dangal was organized by Panjpeer Dangal Committee Dager, Panaya (Akhnoor) in collaboration with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association. 31 bouts were played in the dangal.
Shiv Sharma said sports play vital role in keeping mind and physique fit and also builds self-confidence and develops personality besides help in keeping youth away from social evils like drug abuse, smoking and drinking.
