REASI, Apr 13: The 32nd Annual Dera Kesari Dangal 2025 was held with great enthusiasm today at the holy shrine of Dera Baba Banda Bahadur in Reasi, as part of the Baisakhi and Mahavir Jayanti celebrations.
The traditional wrestling event was organized in memory of the great saint, warrior and martyr Baba Banda Bahadur by the Dera Baba Banda Bahadur Prabandhak Committee and Baba Banda Bahadur Sikh Samardi, in collaboration with the J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association under the overall supervision of Association President Shiv Kumar Sharma and Baba Jatinder Paul Singh Sodhi.
In the title bout, Wrestler Sumit from Guru Leelu Akhada, Ladpur (Haryana) defeated Wrestler Surjit of J&K Police, a resident of Reasi, to win the 32nd Annual Dera Kesari Dangal Title 2025. Sumit was awarded a cash prize of Rs 6,000, along with the traditional Gurj (Gada) and Patta, while Surjit received Rs 5,000 as runner-up.
The second malli bout saw Bablu (J&K Police) from Basantgarh defeating Rahul of Haryana, winning Rs 5,000, while Rahul received Rs 4,000. In the third bout, Sanjay Kumar (J&K Police) triumphed over Balwan Singh of Kalha Akhara, Reasi, winning Rs 4,500, with Balwan receiving Rs 3,500. The fourth bout was won by Irfan of Basantgarh against Vijay Kumar of Bai Bajalta, and the fifth bout by Ranjit Singh (J&K Police) against Chain Singh of Reasi.
In total, 39 exciting bouts were held and a total of Rs 1.5 lakh was distributed among the wrestlers.
SSP Reasi Paramvir Singh was the chief guest, who distributed cash prizes. Guests of honour included ADC Rakesh Kumar, Addl. SP Iftkhar Ahmed, and Naib Tehsildar Parmesh Chander. The event was officiated by Lochan Singh, Munshi Ram, Raj Singh, Tulinder Kumar, and Prabhat Singh.
Key organizing committee members included Sant Kumar Juneja (Chairman), Prem Dureja (Vice Chairman), Dr. Shiv Shanker Pahwa (National President), Ved Parkash Makker (Vice Chairman), Darshan Rewari (Vice President), Pritam Bhayana (General Secretary), Tilak Ajit Singh Khurana (Vice President), and K.K. Bajaj (Finance Secretary).
