JAMMU, Feb 14: Mag Purnima (Kaw Punim) was celebrated with traditional religious fervour and gaiety today.
In this connection religious functions were held in various ashrams and Hawans were also performed.
A grand function was held at Mata Shailputri, Gokul Dham Ashram, Ambica Vihar Gole Gujral where a Mahayagya was also performed.
Hundreds of devotees thronged the Ashram to take part in the function. They were served with prashad after Puranahuti.
Swami Gakal Nath Ji and Guru Mata Sheela Ji gave religious discourses on the occasion. Swami Ji threw light on the religious significance of Kaw Punim (Mag Purnima) in detail. The devotees also recited Bhajan -Kirtan.
In connection with celebration of Mag Purnima a religious function was also held at Swami Kumar Ji Geeta Satsang Ahsram Muthi. Swami Ji and his devotees who had kept the fast for full month of Mag performed hawan in the Aashram.
During the month long programme recitation of Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta was held daily and religious discourses were given by Swami Ji.
The Mahayagya started yesterday and Puranahuti was performed this afternoon. Swami Ravi Ji Maharaj of Braham Kumari Ashram and Swami Diya Anand Ji Maha Mandlishore gave the religious discourses on the occasion and highlighted the significance of Mag Mass. Swami Kumar Ji highlighted the significance of Kaw Purnima and demanded passage of Kashmiri Hindu Shrines and Religious Places Bill in the current Session of Assembly.
Justice (retd) B L Bhat was the chief guest on the occasion while Vijay Bakaya MLC was the guest of honour. The function among others was attended by Dr R L Bhat, H L Chatta, Kuldeep Raina, Ashok Koul chairperson RDS, Jatin Bhat, M K Yogi etc.
A Mahayagya was also performed in the Shiv temple of Anuradha Puram Sector second on the occasion of Mag Purnima and a large number of devotees were served with prashad after Puranahuti.
