JAMMU, Sept 9: On the fourth day of the ongoing scholarship distribution programme, Harbans Bhalla Educational Trust distributed scholarships among 64 students.
On the occasion, Sangeeta Gupta, Principal Commissioner Income Tax, Jammu and Kashmir was the chief guest.
She told the students about the benefits of education and advised them to make full use of scholarship and support of the Trust. She appreciated the role of women who often have to do multitasking, looking after the home as well as working.
She advised the children how they can compete for Civil Services and higher level jobs. She also said educating women is essential for the development of the country.
Gupta praised the noble efforts of the Trust in helping the cause of education and also helping society at large to empower women.
On the occasion, Civil Defence Department provided awareness training to the parents.
Official spokesperson of the trust said that “HBET has the mission to change lives of needy children through literacy support programmes. HBET is providing scholarships and conducting various other child welfare schemes for the past 18 years. Over 80 per cent children are girls from rural areas, who have been benefited from the programmes of HBET”.
The beneficiaries were from villages like Dansal, Hirachak, Qazi Tokarian, Jaswan, Parwah, etc, he added.
He further stated that applications can be submitted to HBET by financially weak families for girls of Government schools from 1st to 3rd classes.
