HC directs CS to make available money for dumper placer

SRINAGAR, Dec 25: High Court has directed the Chief Secretary to make available money to the Director Motor Garages for purchasing dumper placer for garbage bins.
A Division Bench of High Court comprising Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar and Justice Tashi Rabstan passed the direction after the respondents in their status report submitted that the Director State Motor Garages has asked the department for making advance payment of Rs.3.78 lakh for procurement of dumper placer for garbage bins for removal of solid waste from the hospitals on daily basis.
The bench also directed that the hospital authorities shall, however, ensure that the solid waste was removed as far as possible on daily basis.
The Court also directed the Principal Government Medical College Srinagar and the Superintendent Psychiatric Diseases Hospital, Srinagar to file their status reports before next date of hearing.
“The Principal Government Medical College Srinagar has sent a written request to the Government through its administrative department for making funds available which, however, have not been made available so far” reads the status report.
Over the issue of providing accommodation to the families of the leper home patients, the counsel for petitioners Advocate Javed Iqbal invited attention of the court to the order dated: 18.7.2013, wherein Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), Dr. G.N. Qasba, had assured the court that by end of December 2013, all families of the leper home patients would be provided flats/quarters.
However, nothing has been done till date, the advocate complained.
The bench directed SMC Commissioner for personal appearance and to file compliance report on next hearing.
Additional Advocate General J.A.Kawoosa, Firdous Ahmad Mir, standing counsel SMC, and Advocate Javed Iqbal submitted before the court that they would personally visit the leper home and the Psychiatric Diseases Hospital to report to the court about the conditions prevailing there.
“The authorities concerned shall render all necessary assistance to the counsel for the said purpose,” the bench directed.
