JAMMU, Sept 8: High Court today lifted stay on the selection of 772 Lecturers and directed the official respondents to finalize the result of the selection in shortest possible time.
After hearing Senior Advocate M K Bhardwaj with Advocate Vasu Dubey and Advocate Rohan Nanda appearing for the petitioners and Advocate General Jehangir Iqbal Ganai with AAG Rakesh Khajuria appearing for Higher Education Department, Justice B S Walia observed, “there are 772 posts of Lecturers/Teaching Assistants which have been advertised and the challenge in the writ petitions is only qua appointment to the posts of Teaching Assistants. Therefore, the petitioners would have no objection if the State goes ahead with filling up the posts of Lecturers out of the selection made so far”.
On apprehension expressed by Senior Advocate M K Bhardwaj, Justice Walia said, “circular No.HE/Gen/Cir/2015 dated August, 31, 2015 providing for appointment of Guest Faculty against the post of Teaching Assistants shall not be acted upon till the next date before the bench”.
Looking into the urgency involved, the court directed the Registry to list this matter on September 17.
