JAMMU, June 5: In a petition filed by Dr Vikas Sharma seeking quashment of the criteria for selection of candidates for the post of Assistant Professor/Assistant Director indicated in Clause IV of Advertisement Notice dated 03.01.2017, screening criteria and selection criteria as notified vide Notification dated 15.5.2017 for being totally illegal, arbitrary, contrary to the UGC guidelines, High Court today directed University of Jammu that the interview for the post of Assistant Professor shall strictly be conducted in accordance with criteria approved by Syndicate of University.
During the course of hearing, Senior Advocate Sunil Sethi with Advocate Parimoksh Seth, the counsels for the petitioner, submitted that selection to the post of Assistant Professor Statistics under open merit category advertised vide Advertisement Notice dated 18.4.2016 and 03.01.2017 strictly in accordance with the criteria of Kashmir University which, as per the decision taken by the University of Jammu on 13.02.2017, has been adopted and the selection criteria as envisaged in Clause IV of the advertisement notices and the screening criteria as envisaged in Annexure-I to Notification dated 15.05.2017 is in utter conflict and contravention of the decision taken by the University Syndicate in its 111th meeting held on 13.02.2017.
