Health workers for designating separate COVID hospitals

Excelsior Correspondent

JAMMU, Aug 29: In view of the rapid spread of COVID pandemic in J&K UT as well as among the health workers, there is a growing demand of designating separate hospitals for treatment of COVID patients in Jammu.
Some doctors and para medical staff have shown their grave concern over the failure of administration in taking a decision in this regard and said that in western countries the COVID patients are treated in separate hospitals in view of the high risk of the infection transmitting from COVID patents to non COVID patients.
A group of the health workers, while talking to this correspondent said that some of their colleagues have also fallen a prey to COVID pandemic while treating the patients in the hospitals and placing the COVID patients in the same hospital where the patients belonging to Gynecology problems, orthopedics, surgery etc are undergoing treatment will have serious consequences.
This way these patients are also put to high risk of getting infected when both the COVID patents as well as the non COVID patients are treated in the same hospital. The health workers have made an appeal to the higher authorities to look into the matter and designate separate hospitals for the treatment of COVID patients. They demanded that at least the COVID patients should not be admitted in SMGS Hospital, Jammu which houses the Gynecology and Pediatric Departments as both infants and their mothers this way will be exposed to high risk.
