JAMMU, Nov 19: Education is of vital importance and good school education lays a strong foundation for the establishment of a wholesome and productive society.
This was stated by N N Vohra, Governor, while speaking on the occasion of Annual Day function of the Heritage School at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium here.
The Governor said since Independence the Government of India has devoted high priority to school education and there are a number of Central schemes which seek to achieve full literacy and the highest possible enrolments. While these schemes have led to significant progress yet a great deal still remains to be done to enlarge and upgrade the standards of teaching at the school level.
The Governor complimented Trustees of the Heritage School, teachers and the students for the school being adjudged as the best co-educational school for the second consecutive year.
The programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the Governor who was accorded a warm welcome by the School Student Council.The welcome address was read by Master Kartik Tripathi a student of class 9.
He appreciated the high standard of cultural programmes, comprising orchestra and a well choreographed ballet which revolved around the theme of universal unity, peace, and tolerance, inherent in the philosophy of Swami Vivekanand.
Jagdish Singh Dhami, Principal of the School presented a vote of thanks.
Kuldeep Khoda, Chief Vigilance Commissioner and Indu Khoda were the gests of honour on the occasion. Nirmala Gupta, Founder Trustee; Sunil Gupta, Trustee; Sunita Gupta, Chairperson of the School and parents of the students were among those present on the occasion.
