RAMBAN, Mar 23: Under the guidance of IGP Jammu Zone and DIG DKR Range and on the directions of DGP Dilbagh Singh, about 150 crash helmets got distributed among the youth at Ramban, Batote and Banihal towns by Police Department.
Giving details of the traffic awareness drive, a police spokesperson said, “As a part of Civic Action Programme (CAP) of J&K Police, three major towns of the district were identified to be targeted for traffic awareness i.e Banihal, Ramban and Batote. “It was noticed over a period of time that the bike riders in these areas do not wear crash helmets as a safety measure. In order to make them aware of the importance of wearing helmets, a traffic awareness programme was planned and executed in these towns”.
SSP Ramban Anita Sharma along with Additional SP Ramban Sanjay Parihar and DySP Headquarters Asgar Malik distributed the helmets among the youth at Cafeteria Morh Ramban and Bhaderwah Morh Batote. SHO Ramban Vijay Kotwal and SHO Batote Nazir Ahmad also remained present on the occasion. In Banihal it was done last Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, SSP Ramban appealed the youth of the area in particular and the public in general to obey the traffic rules in letter and spirit and make it a part of their routine life.
People of the area assured that they will follow the traffic rules and will encourage their near and dear ones to follow the suit.
“It is pertinent to mention here that one slogan writing competition was also organized in Government High School Maitra under CAP in which 50 students participated. Next week, a cultural programme and a cricket tournament will also be organized under CAP”, spokesperson informed.
