JAMMU, Dec 9: Heritage School Jammu was filled with vibrant energy as the Senior Wing hosted its 20th Annual Sports Day, here today.
The event, centered around the theme Citius, Altius, Fortius – Communiter (Faster, Higher, Stronger – Together), was a grand celebration of athleticism, unity, and school spirit.
The chief guest, Sheetal Nanda, Commissioner Secretary, Social Welfare, UT of J&K, and guest of honour Faisal Qureshi, SSP Traffic, Jammu, graced the occasion. Other dignitaries included Dr. Saheela Qureshi, Ajaz Ahmed Jan, MLA Poonch, Romana Fatima Jan, and Sunil Gupta, Chairman of the school, along with the members of the Dhanvanti Memorial Trust.
The day began with a welcome address by School Head Girl Samridhi Gupta, followed by the unfurling of the school flag by the chief guest. Students showcased their athletic skills in exciting track events, including 100m, 200m, hurdles, and relay races, with the relay and hurdles events standing out for their intensity and energy. Cultural performances, including a Lezium routine and aerobics, added rhythm and flair to the day.
The event also honoured academic and co-curricular achievements. Sunil Gupta awarded cash prizes of Rs 10,000 each to 64 students who scored above 90% in the AISSE 2023-24 exams. Qureshi conferred Golden Crests to students who maintained above 90% for three consecutive years, including Suhana Dubey, Jhanavi Raina, and Prabhkirat Kaur.
Dignity House won the Best House Trophy, while Legacy House claimed the best march past contingent trophy. The best sportsperson trophy was awarded to Puneesh Puri, India’s No. 1 Under-14 speed skater, and Manya, a top-ranked rhythmic gymnast.
In her address, Sheetal Nanda praised the school’s dedication to excellence and commended the efforts of the students and staff in organizing such a spectacular event. The Principal, Akash Pradhan, delivered a vote of thanks, concluding the day with the National Anthem.
