JAMMU, Dec 7: The Heritage School Primary Wing here today organised its 20th Annual Sports Day around the theme ‘Sampoorna Shakti – A Celebration of Strength & Skill.’
The occasion was graced by Shiv Kumar Sharma, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range as chief guest and Ritu Mahajan, Additional Secretary, School Education J&K as the guest of honour.
Other dignitaries present were Radhika Sharma, Sunil Gupta, Chairman of the School and Members of Board of Trustees of Dhanwanti Memorial Trust, Sunita Gupta, Vishal Gupta and Monika Gupta.
The guests were welcomed with saplings presented by the four Junior House Prefects and the Junior School Prefect, Ashwika Sambyal delivered welcome address.
The Sports Day commenced with the lighting of Heritage Torch and hoisting of School flag by the Principal, Akash Pradhan with Primary Sports Achievers.
The Heritage Torch was carried by the Primary Wing’s sports achievers, Prashasti Sharma (Roller Hockey), Yashaasvin Singh Reen (Roller Skating) and Pratyaksh Vir Parmar (Aquatics).
March Past by the students of the four Houses of the School-Culture, Tradition, Dignity and Legacy, each led by their respective Junior House Captains, displayed discipline and synchronization.
Junior School Prefect, Vivaan Bhardwaj administered the sports oath.
The chief guest then declared the Sports Meet open, as balloons soared into the sky.
The day featured a plethora of activities, including track events like Rainbow Relay, Serving Water, Shape Sorting, Lemon & Spoon, Hula Hoop, Hurdle, Step Along and Roll Along Races.
Spectacular performances such as the Welcome Dance by Class I, Yoga Display by students of Class II, Dumb-Bell Drill by students of Class III and exhilarating Aerobics by students of Class IV showcased the students’ skill and fitness.
The grand finale by class V students -a powerful fusion of Zumba and Durga Dance -captured the essence of Sampoorna Shakti.
The rhythmic beats of Zumba reflected vitality and fitness, while the Durga Dance embodied courage and empowerment.
The event concluded with prize distribution and winners of the track of classes III, IV & I received their medals from the guest of honour while the winners of the track events for classes II & IV received their honours from the Chairman of the School.
Chief Guest, Shiv Kumar Sharma felicitated Ineesa Chandel (I E), Muhammd Affan Sheikh (I C), Kiana Gupta (II B), Gurvansh Singh (II B), Banat Kaur (III B), Swastika Choudhary (IV E), Yuvika Bansal (IV C), Aayat Tariq (V E), Kaavisha Singh (V B) with All Rounder trophies, to Tradition House for Best in March Past and to Legacy House for Best in Co-curricular cum Sports activities.
In his address, the chief guest emphasized on some vital aspects like cyber crime and cyber bullying especially against children, women and senior citizens that civil society must be careful about.
Headmistress Vandana Jasrotia extended vote of thanks.
The event came to an end with recitation of National Anthem.
