Heritage School organizes ‘One Act Play’ competition

JAMMU, Aug 4: To provide theatrical opportunities to the students and promote theatrical talent and generate public awareness about theatre, the Heritage School Sainik Colony, Jammu organized an Inter-House Hindi One Act Play competition, here today.
The four Houses of the school namely Legacy, Dignity, Culture and Tradition presented plays dealing with the themes like problem of student truancy; insensitivity of children towards their parents needs and requirements in their old age and comic outlook to children’s pranks in the class-rooms.
Sumeet Sharma, Head, Children and Youth Wing Natrang, alumni of the Department of Indian Theatre, Punjab University, Chandigarh and the protégé of the illustrious Balwant Thakur, was the judge on the occasion.
Tradition House was declared winner of the competition, while Shivang Ganjoo and Shreya Sharma were adjudged best actor and actress respectively.
The judge was highly impressed by the efforts put in by the students and teachers.
While applauding their efforts, he gave valuable tips to the students for honing their acting skills. He also deliberated on the nuances of acting in front of audience.
School Principal Jagdish Singh Dhami gave away the mementos to the guests and highly applauded the students and the teachers for their efforts and said that such competitions provide a healthy and creative environment, besides fostering teamwork.
