JAMMU, May 13: The Border Security Force (BSF) today recovered two kilograms heroin valued at Rs 10 crores in the international market, about 150 meters ahead of border fencing along the International Border in RS Pura sector this afternoon.
Official sources said this was the first attempt of narcotics smuggling from across the border to this side during 2015 and 2016, which has been foiled by the BSF.
The BSF jawans of 127 battalion along with sleuths of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and `G’ branch of BSF, conducted searches close to the IB at 12.30 pm on specific inputs and recovered two packets, weighing one kilogram each.
They said two kilograms heroin has international market value of Rs 10 crores.
“Area on Pakistan side of International Border, opposite the spot where narcotics packets were recovered, is covered with small Nullah and wild growth, which provide cover to the smugglers to reach to the IB,” sources said, adding that the smugglers might have thrown packets of narcotics to the Indian side to be picked up by the trans-border smugglers this side.
However, before the smugglers could succeed in taking the consignment, the BSF and NCB recovered it.
