Hiranagar wins Volleyball tourney

JAMMU, Oct 21: Team Hiranagar emerged victorious in the final of the Shri Maharaja Gulab Singh Memorial Volleyball Tournament, defeating Pargo Club by 3-0 in an exciting five-set match. The tournament, held in Pargwal, showcased 12 competing teams, demonstrating exceptional talent and sportsmanship.
Narayan Singh, former President of the Shree Amar Kshatriya Rajput Sabha, served as the chief guest. In his address, he highlighted the crucial role of sports in youth development, stating, “Sports channel energy into positive endeavors, fostering discipline, teamwork, and resilience.” He also emphasized the importance of commemorating Maharaja Gulab Singh’s legacy, saying, “His contributions laid the foundation for our present, and it is our duty to keep his spirit alive.”
The event celebrated the 232nd birth anniversary of Maharaja Gulab Singh and concluded with the distribution of awards and mementos. Team Hiranagar was awarded a cash prize of Rs 21,000, while the runners-up, Pargo Club, received Rs 11,000. The tournament not only highlighted sporting excellence but also honored local heritage and history.
