History Dept registers 9 wkt win over Education, advances to quarterfinal

JAMMU, Apr 16: History Department registered 9 wickets win over Education Department and advanced to the quarterfinal round of the cricket event, being organised during the ongoing Inter Department Tournament (Men) by Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu at Varsity ground here today.
Electing to bat first, after winning the toss, Education Department scored a paltry 62 runs for all out in 13.5 overs. Sunil chipped in 10 runs with the help of two balls towards the fence, while Vinod Singh made 7 runs including one boundary.
For History Department side, Majid and Prince with their excellent line and length scalped 3 wickets each, while Nawaz took 2 wickets. Moiz and Bilal also succeeded in taking one wicket apiece.
In the second inning, History Department chased the target in just 10 overs by losing just one wicket. Waqar played well, chipped in some crispy shots and scored 31 runs including 4 balls towards the fence, while Ashish scored 18 runs with the help of two boundaries.
For Education Department side, Jagbir was the lone player, who scalped one wicket by conceding just 9 runs in his 2 overs spell.
The match was officiated by Suresh Singh and Pankaj Sasan as umpires, while Satpal maintained the scorecard.
The tournament is being organised under the overall supervision of Prof Dhian Singh Bhau, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu.
