Homage to the founding Editor

We can measure time, but we cannot measure loss, as today marks the eleventh anniversary of the passing away of S. D. Rohmetra, the revered father and founder Editor of Excelsior. On this solemn occasion, we pay our respectful homage to him. Being the pillar of journalism in Jammu and Kashmir, he lived a life marked by trials and obstacles; thus, today represents a fresh opportunity for us to continue in his footsteps.
S.D. Rohmetra was a visionary ahead of his time, possessing the ability to anticipate and make informed judgements while upholding the principles of journalism. His exceptional foresight and unwavering commitment to journalistic ethics have been instrumental in the long-standing success of the Daily Excelsior. Under his leadership, the publication set clear boundaries that were never to be crossed, regardless of any circumstances or external pressures. Under his prescient guidance, this newspaper has steadily risen from humble beginnings to its current position. Initially limited to circulation within the boundaries of Jammu, Excelsior has since undergone remarkable transitions and adaptations. The tremendous response from its readership, which increased the newspaper’s reach beyond territorial limits, is responsible for Excelsior’s great advancement. Such outstanding accomplishments are due to S.D. Rohmetra’s strong resolve and astute leadership, whose expert prospicience enabled Excelsior to attain hitherto unheard-of levels of success. We strive to uphold the high standards set by him, catering to the expectations of our readers and the general public. Our commitment to truth, accurate reporting and professional analysis is evident in the positive responses and encouragement we receive from our esteemed readers. We continuously seek their appraisal to further improve our performance and meet their expectations.
We continue to vigorously address issues of public concern in all parts of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. Additionally, we closely monitor and follow up on developments to ensure that the administration remains proactive in addressing these issues.
Our strength lies in delivering authentic and exclusive news and stories that break new ground in highlighting the issues faced by the people of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. As always practised by our founder Editor, S.D. Rohmetra, our motto is “country first,” and we have consistently stood by the nation in both difficult and prosperous times, even during the peak of terrorism when few dared to report the facts. Our longstanding position as the top newspaper in the region is a testament to the efforts of our founder Editor and we reiterate our desire to follow in his footsteps.
As the focal point of the prolonged standoff between India and China in Ladakh, with Pakistan constantly attempting to weaken India through various means, Daily Excelsior has diligently covered the aggressive actions of China and their far-reaching consequences for the entire region. Our comprehensive coverage and insightful analysis of Pakistan-sponsored terrorism are recognised as authentic and provide authorities with valuable insights into the ground realities and the necessary responses required to address these challenges. We remain committed to delivering unbiased and reliable information, empowering our readers with a deeper understanding of these critical issues.
Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed remarkable development since 2019 and we have been an integral part of this transformative journey, be it the historic G20 summit or the never-before-seen development of Jammu and Kashmir. The Daily Excelsior acts as the voice of the public while also serving as the eyes and ears of the administration, providing comprehensive coverage based on merit. We understand that swimming against the tide is never easy, but the policies adopted by our founder and passed down to us always guide us to take a principled stance on contentious issues.
We also take a firm stand against corrupt practices within the administrative apparatus, promptly highlighting and pursuing administrative and legal measures to cleanse the system. The rampant drug and narcotics trade, along with the network of individuals enticing young people into addiction, poses a significant problem. We tirelessly bring attention to this issue and advocate for effective measures to curb and contain this menace. We aim to prevent our youth, who are our most valuable resource, from becoming liabilities instead of assets.
In alignment with the vision of S.D. Rohmetra, we persistently endeavour to achieve excellence and uphold professionalism. The Daily Excelsior has become the trusted source for authentic news from Jammu and Kashmir, relied upon by people around the world. Our dedication to unbiased reporting has earned us this trust. In addition to our print media, our digital platform has gained significant value, attracting a growing audience with each passing day. Our father and founder Editor had provided an exemplary path for journalism, demonstrating its increasing reach and significant impact. This enviable success can be attributed solely to his invaluable contributions.
Throughout, we strive to represent the interests and concerns of people, including our readers and valued patrons. By giving due prominence to a wide range of important issues through our columns, we symbolically embody the spirit of our father’s guidance. As we extend our heartfelt and profound tribute to the revered S.D. Rohmetra, we also wish to reaffirm our deep gratitude and indebtedness to our esteemed patrons and valued readers. Your unwavering support and loyalty have been instrumental in our journey and success.
