Hundreds of Home Guards drawn from various parts of Jammu region today assembled at Exhibition Ground, Jammu to register their protest against the PDP-BJP Coalition Government in the State for ignoring the SC order, in which the State administration was directed to bring Home Guards of J&K at par with constables in Police Department.
Addressing the protestors, Kamla Sharma, president of the Association, said that the Government had sought a week’s time to implement the SC order but it has elapsed the stipulated time and did nothing to implement the order.
“It is a matter of grave concern that other states like Punjab, Haryana, HP, Delhi, MP, Telangana and Jharkhand have already implemented the order then why J&K Government is shying away to implement the order”, she said and demanded the Government to implement the order without any delay.
She said that State Home Guards are doing their assigned jobs with full dedication and hard work but the authorities have no concern with the hardships being faced by them. She regretted that no MLA to whom the public has given their mandate so as to listen their grievances, raised any question relating their issue.
Later, the protesting Home Guards tried to take out a rally but the heavy contingent of police deployed at Dogra Chowk thwarted their every attempt.
