Hotels & Lodges Association seeks timely completion of tourism projects in Jammu

JAMMU, Oct 20: Urging the State Government to devise and put in place foolproof mechanism to ensure the time bound completion of ongoing Jammu tourism projects, Jammu Hotels & Lodges Association has appealed the Chief Minister to ensure sufficient release of funds for the same.
In a statement, president of the Association, Inderjeet Khajuria said that the Government should ensure timely flow of sufficient funds leaving no scope of laxity by the executing agencies as delay in completion of projects causes lot of financial burden on the Government, besides unnecessary suffering of the public.
“Due to extension of rail link to Katra, Jammu tourism traders have suffered an abrupt financial setback causing frustration as no relief has reached them in any shape till now. There is dire need for confidence building measures in the entire fraternity of Jammu tourism related traders in view of shattered economy,” he added.
Mr Khajuria further said that with the completion of Rs 37.39 crore Sidhra Golf Course, which was started during 2007, Jammuites would get a sigh of relief as the same will serve as tourism attraction. “Similarly, artificial lake project, started during 2010, is required to be completed within shortest possible time. The development of Hari Singh Park will enhance tourism potential and attract the tourist as well as pilgrims,” he said.
The Jammu rope way project, Multistoried shopping complex with parking and development of Jammu Bus Stand, border tourism projects at Suchetgarh on the pattern of Wagah border, development and promotion of Manda Wild Life Sanctuary and creation of a Zoo of international fame should be taken up on priority for timely completion,” Mr Khajuria said.
The Association president appealed to the Chief Minister to save Jammu traders by taking them into confidence at this crucial juncture when the Jammu tourism is on ventilator. “The only way to take them out of these miseries is the time bound completion of all ongoing tourism related projects in Jammu, which will make Jammu as independent tourist destination and save the traders and their families from further economical deterioration,” he added.
