JAMMU, Mar 15: The Housing Department launched an anti encroachment drive in Sector-7, Channi Himmat to remove the encroachment on the Government land.
The Managing Director, Housing Board, Kiran Wattal on the instruction of the Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture, Raman Bhalla supervised the whole operation and got the encroachment removed in a swift action. The operation lasted for half an hour.
It is to mention here that some influential people had encroached the Government land thereby encroaching the Nallah. As per the revenue record the land is a 20 feet wide Bando Basti Rasta connecting Channi Himmat with village Delli. The residents of the Channi had been raising the issue with the Minister for removal of the said encroachment so that the natural flow of drains could take it own course and land up in the main Nallah.
The Managing Director, Housing Board asked the residents to be more vigilant in future.
