JAMMU, Dec 21: Himachal Pradesh were in comfortable position at 154/2 against Jammu and Kashmir’s modest total of 132 runs on the opening day of the 3-day match of Vijay Merchant Under-16 Cricket Tournament at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Cricket Stadium, Amtar in Himachal Pradesh, today.
Batting first, J&K were bundled out for a modest total of 132 runs in 49.5 overs. Muhmmad Shahdad was the top scorer with 42 runs, while Raghav Sharma contributed 21 runs to the total. Rather Zamin Bin Zahoor, Mujtaba Yousuf and Kartik Sharma also chipped in with 17, 14 and 11 runs respectively. None of the other batsmen could cross the double figure mark.
Earlier, J&K were 21/3 with both openers Abdul Samad (8) and Kanhaiya Wadhawan (6) back into the pavilion. For Himachal Pradesh, Lakshay H Verma took 4 wickets, while Vikrant Bakshi and Rishab S Charak bagged 3 wickets each.
In reply, Himachal Pradesh were strongly placed at 154/2 when the stumps were drawn today. Sidharth A Mehta and Aryarat R Sharma were unbeaten on 74 and 56 runs respectively. Openers Kushal L Pal and Raghav K Angra were back to the pavilion early in the innings. Kushal was caught by Kanhaiya Wadhawan and bowled by Praful Dhar for 8 runs off 33 balls, while Raghav was caught by Praful Dhar and bowled by Rather Zamin Bin Zahoor for 6 runs off 15 balls. Praful and Zamin were the two successful bowlers for J&K, claiming one wicket each by conceding 24 and 25 runs in their 6 and 8 overs respectively.
