JAMMU, May 26: A delegation of Hotel and Restaurant Association (HRA), Katra, led by its president Shyam Lal Kesar and senior vice-president, Rakesh Wazir, met Project Director, National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), R P Singh and while submitting a memorandum apprised him that people at Ban Toll post are charging the exorbitant money from the people who are exempted under different categories including locals who are eligible for monthly passes under local category.
They said that as per rules the residents of areas falling within the 20 Km of Toll post are eligible for monthly passes and since Katra falls under that category and as such the residents of Katra and around are eligible for that passes but the same are being denied to them on one pretext or the other by the people deployed at Ban Toll Post and requested the Project Director for his immediate intervention so that the people may not have to pay exorbitant rates and regular mechanism of issuing of passes be adopted over there.
RP Singh listened the delegation patiently and gave on spot instructions for immediate issuing of monthly passes to the local people around toll post particularly the residents of Katra (@225/- per month) and asked the delegation that now onwards the people of Katra can have that passes from Toll post on the submission of resident proof and registration certificate of the vehicle.
The delegation among others comprised of Harish Dubey, Virender Kesar, Parbhat Singh, Gardhari Lal and Varun Jamwal.
