JAMMU, Oct 9: The 3rd edition of Heritage School MUN Conference ‘Viamus, Moriendum Est. – War to End All Wars’, concluded on a pulsating note with a glittering closing ceremony, here today.
The participating schools included G.D. Goenka, Rich Harvest, Jodhamal Public School, British International School and La Martiniere School Lucknow, as well as a large number of individual participants.
The sessions’ simulation of Rajya Sabha, UNSC, ECOSOC, UNHRC, UNCND, AIIPM, UNESC and International Press saw some heated and spirited debates on matters of international and national consequence.
Vijay Bakaya, former Chief Secretary J&K, was the chief guest at the closing ceremony. He shared his insights on the United Nations, its functions and role in maintaining world peace. He also highlighted the importance of MUN as a school activity which not only promotes communicative skills but also plays an important role in holistic development of students.
Principal of the School, Akash Pradhan in his vote of thanks emphasized the role MUN plays in altering the lives of youth by contributing to their educational and social development as young leaders. He extended his gratitude to the esteemed chief guest for his gracious presence and encouraging the students.
The ceremony concluded with the prize distribution in which the outstanding delegates were felicitated. The students adjudged as Best delegates were: UNSC- Adityaveer Singh (La Martiniere School, Lucknow), UNHRC – Amber Bhat (Individual delegate), UNCND – Samiah Sami (Jodhamal Public School), Rajya Sabha– Soham Magazine (Jodhamal Public School), AIIPM – Suhaib Ahmed (Individual delegate), ECOSOC-Saumya Chopra (Individual delegate), CCC-Sarthak Singh (La Martiniere School, Lucknow). Amay Gupta (Jodhamal Public School) and Dhwani Samyal (Heritage School Jammu) were declared Best photographer and Best journalist respectively. The Best delegation trophy was bagged by La Martiniere School, Lucknow.
