Srinagar, Apr 30: Hundreds of Jammu bound passengers were waiting since morning at Qazigund as the authorities refused to allow them to cross the Jawahar tunnel despite traffic movement being between Srinagar to Jammu today.
The traffic was to ply from Srinagar to Jammu today but the passengers who left Srinagar this morning were stranded on the highway at Qazigund till late this evening
A passenger from Jawahar Nagar Srinagar who left for Jammu along with his family including small children this morning said that they were on the highway since morning as they were not allowed to move ahead.
The one way traffic from Jammu to Srinagar was allowed on Saturday and Sunday and on Monday trucks were allowed to move from Jammu but today traffic was supposed to ply from Srinagar to Jammu.
Authorities today only allowed security force convoy to move towards Jammu at 8:30 a.m. and it crossed the Tunnel at around at 12:15 p.m. Authorities instead of allowing civilian traffic to move towards Jammu allowed stranded traffic to move towards Srinagar. This led to huge traffic jam on the highway.
Sources said that around 6000 trucks were also stranded on the highway at Qazigund and besides this there were over 200 passenger vehicles on way to Jammu stranded at Qazigund.
