POONCH, Feb 17: A villager attacked his wife with axe causing critical injuries at Dingla village in district Poonch today and escaped from his home.
Police sources said that over a family dispute one Mohd Ismail, resident of village Dingla of district Poonch attacked his wife, Fatima Bi (30 yrs) with a sharp axe, causing serious injuries to her. The accused attacked his wife at about 7 am when she was in the bathroom. The neighbours rushed to the spot hearing the cries and found the woman critically injured.
They rushed her to Poonch hospital. The relatives of the victim said that the accused has already been convicted in many cases but due to the involvement of few local leaders he escaped from the jail. They said that the accused had fled away many a times due to his activities.
According to doctor the woman has received multiple injuries on head due to which she had suffered major blood loss. After providing initial treatment, she was referred GMC Jammu for further treatment. The accused could not be arrested by police till late this evening. The police have registered a case under relevant sections and started the investigation.
