I-Tech enters QFs; Striker drubs New Star in Tawi T20

JAMMU, Jan 9: I-Tech Cricket Club defeated Kherian Tawi Cricket Club by 7 wickets to seal berth in the quarterfinals, while Striker Cricket Club got better of New Star Cricket Club by a narrow margin of 18 runs to advance in 3rd Jammu Tawi Premier T20 Cricket Tournament, being played at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here.
In the first match, Kherian Tawi Club scored a modest total of 111 runs in 20 overs. Jassi top scored with 33 runs, while Amit and Gosha contributed 15 and 12 runs respectively. For I-Tech Club, Ajay was the wrecker-in-chief, who took 4 important wickets, while Raman bagged 3 wickets and Rajay claimed one.
In reply, I-Tech chased the target in 16 overs by losing 3 wickets to win the match by 7 wickets and seal berth in the quarterfinals. Former Ranji Trophy player, Vikrant Taggar was the top scorer with unbeaten 71 runs, while Rajay Singh contributed 16 runs to the total. For Kherian Club, Tarun took 4 wickets, while Jassi and Sunny claimed one wicket each. Vikrant Taggar was adjudged man of the match for his brilliant batting show.
In another match, Striker Club scored 124 runs in 20 overs, with Sachin contributing highest 47 runs, while Jimmy and Mayur chipped in with 22 and 15 runs respectively. For New Star, Vikram took 2 wickets, while Love and Kamal claimed one wicket each.
In reply, New Star bundled out for 106 runs in 19.5 overs, thus lost the match by 18 runs. Anmol scored 38 runs, while Anshul and Anshu contributed 19 and 12 runs respectively. Jimmy and Anmol were the pick of the bowlers for Striker Cricket Club, who took 4 wickets each, while Anson and Sachin claimed one wicket each. Jimmy of Striker Cricket Club was adjudged as man of the match.
