SAMBA, Apr 22: The 1st International Cricket Tournament held at Badhori Ground, district Samba, concluded with a thrilling final match where International Cricket Club (ICC) Jammu defeated Samba XI Cricket Club by 6 wickets to clinch the title.
The event featured 16 teams and the final was a showcase of talent and sportsmanship. Batting first, Samba XI scored 130 runs, setting a competitive target. In response, International Cricket Club Jammu chased down the target in 17.3 overs, finishing at 131/4.
Suresh was the standout performer, scoring 40 runs off 30 balls and taking 5 wickets in 4 overs, earning him the Man of the Match award. Pawan Dev contributed a valuable 40 runs and Bikram added 35 runs, later being awarded Best Batsman of the Tournament. Rajeev also bowled well, claiming 2 wickets in 4 overs.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Davinder Kumar (DDC Bishnah) as chief guest and Surjit Singh Charak, General Secretary BJP Border Area, as guest of honour. The prize distribution featured Habeeb Chaudhary, renowned cricketer of J&K, as chief guest and Pankul Vaid as guest of honour. Organizers Vijay Singh and Gotam Singh Jamwal were acknowledged for their contributions to the tournament’s success.
