JAMMU, Nov 15: ICC and Rehari Cricket Club qualified for the semifinals of the ongoing 3rd Eid-Diwali Milan T20 Cricket Cup, being played at Gulshan ground, here.
Ranjit Kalra Member BCCI was the chief guest in today’s first match who was introduced with the teams and the match officials, while Anupam Verma, CBH Aircel J&K was the chief guest in the second match.
The Tournament is being organized under the overall supervision of Shakeel Beig DIG Jammu and jointly organized by J&K Police, Simula Software and Atman College and the organizing secretary of the tournament is Rajesh Gill, former Ranji trophy player.
In the first match played between Cantt Cricket Club and United Blues, former defeated latter by 7 wickets.
Batting first, United Blues team scored 146 runs in the allotted 18 overs for loss of 6 wickets, with Teju (4 7), Kalu (28) and Sami (23) runs. Sahil took 2 wickets, while Vijay claimed one wicket.
Cantt Club, in reply, chased the target in 14.2 overs for the loss of 3 wickets. Inderjeet Singh (51), Rahul (26) and Vijay (22) were the main scorers. Abdul Majid and Yaser Imran shared 1 wicket each. Inderjeet Singh was declared man of the match for his all-round performance.
In the second match, ICC scripted a comfortable win against Country Cricket Club.
Batting first, Country Cricket Club made 53 runs in 13.4 overs for all wickets with Yogesh (11), Sunny (8) were the main scorers. Ankush took 3 wickets, while Sanjay Bhangar and Shana took 2 wickets each, Rajiv and Aslam shared one wicket.
In reply, ICC achieved the target in 10.1 overs for the loss of 4 wickets. Sahil made 38 runs, while Ankush contributed 10 runs. Yogesh Sikka took 3 wickets, while Akash Choudhary took 1 wicket. Sahil was declared man of the match.
Third match was supposed to be held between Rehari Cricket Club and Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor, but the Singh Club Akhnoor failed to report at the venue, so walkover was given to the Rehari Club. Rehari Club of Pool-D thus qualified for semifinals with better average.
“Technical Committee headed by Pawan Parihar SSP Kathua has decided that Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor has been banned for 5 years to participate in the future cricket tournaments to be organized by Police”, informed organizing secretary Rajesh Gill.
The matches were officiated by Sunil Sambyal, Abhijot Bedi, Sandeep Manchanda, Suhail Yusuf, Farooq Ahmad and Yogesh.
In tomorrow’s fixture, first semifinal will be played between ICC and J&K Police at 10.45 am, while
2nd semifinal will be held between Rehari Cricket Club and KC Sports Club at 1.45 pm.
