JAMMU, Jan 17: ICC Seniors XI and JKP Seniors XI registered emphatic wins to stay alive in the 2nd JKP New Year Veteran T20 Cup for Senior Cricketers of the state, which got underway at Parade Ground , here today.
The tournament in which 6 teams are participating is being organized jointly by Jammu and Kashmir Police Department and Aircel .The Organizing Committee includes Hilal Rather,Sanjay Mahajan,Rajesh Gill, David Mattoo,Asif Gill, Rajesh Dhar,RP Singh, Sunil Sambyal, Anand Tripathi and Sunny Gill.
Earlier Ashok Gupta retired IGP Jammu in presence of Jasvinder Singh HR Head Aircel J&K, ,Rakesh Kumar Singh Sales Head Jammu, Baldeep Singh IT Head J&K , R.C.Kotwal SP Hdqrs. and Rajesh Gill Chief Prosecuting Officer and Organizing Secretary of the tournament inaugurated the tournament in an impressive and colourful function.
While speaking on the occasion, Gupta lauded the efforts of the organizers in conducting this event specially for the senior cricketers just for the recreational activities and involving senior officers of Govt. and private sectors in one platform. He said such events help in making good relations, adding that one feels young and happy to see such events.
In the first match, ICC Seniors defeated Aircel XI.
Batting first, ICC Seniors Club scored 160 runs in stipulated 16 overs for the loss of 5 wickets, with Riaz Ahmad (40) and Surjeet Singh (39) being the main scorers. Nikhil Dev Singh and Baldeep Singh took 2 wickets each for Aircel XI, while Sunil Sambyal took one wicket.
Aircel XI, in reply could not achieved the target and scored only 86 runs in 14.2 overs by losing all wickets and lost the match by 73 runs. Sunil sambyal was the top scorer with 26 runs, while Rakesh Contributed 17 runs . Satwant Singh was the main bowler who took 4 important wickets, while Surjeet Singh took 2 wickets , Pankaj and Bodhraj shared one wicket each for their team. Surjeet Singh was adjudged man of the match.
In the second match, JKP Seniors XI scripted a thrilling win against JK Secretariat Assembly XI.
Batting First Secretariat Assembly XI scored 131 runs in allotted 18 overs game with Ajaz Ahmad 63 runs and Zubair Ahmad 17 were the main scorers , Rajesh Gill took 3 wickets, Naresh took 2 wickets, while Sameer and Sunil shared1 wicket for JKP Seniors XI .
JKP Seniors chased the target in 15 overs by losing 4 wickets thus won the match by 6 wickets, Danny , Farooq and Naresh were the main scorers who made 53, 12 and 11 runs for their team. Ajaz two wickets while Amin and Nazir shared one wicket each for Secretariat XI .Danny of JKP was adjudged man of the match .
The matches were officiated by Saleem Ur Rehman, sadiq Hussain, Sandeep Manchanda, Vinod, Sunil and Danny.
