Jammu, Oct 10: International Centre for Cross- Cultural Research and Human Resource Management (ICccR & HRM) today organized an industrial visit for the students of MBA: International Business (MBA-IB).
The students visited T. V. Super Filter Industries, located at NH 1A, Jalluchak, Jammu. The industry specializes in manufacturing and exporting of automotive industrial filters and is one of the leading suppliers to General Motors, International Tractor Ltd., Mahindra, Fleetguard, Gulf Lubricants, Lamborghini, etc. The company is the recipient of coveted ‘Rajiv Gandhi National Quality Award’, which is one of the top most awards in India for quality management systems.
A batch of 38 MBA-IB students visited the site and met production team, field supervisors and other departmental officials. The visit to the industry started with an orientation presentation by the Internal Quality Circe Team headed by Ms. Rajni. She enlightened the students about concept of Quality Circles, Team work, efficient management of 4 M’s and implementing a Japanese Concept for continuous improvement i.e. ‘Kaizen’.
Taranveer Singh Gujral, the founder Director of the unit and the winner of J&K State ‘An Ideal Industrial Enterprise’ award in 2010, interacted with the students and shared his journey of success in making TV Super Filter Industries as one of the benchmark company in J&K and further explained the assembly line production of filters.
Earlier, D.S. Gujral, the CEO of the company spoke about importance of sense of ownership – turning up as problem solvers, employee involvement at operational level efficiencies, the concept of ergonomics and achieving customer delight through excellence of service & cost control. The visit was informative and full of practical insights about export business and marketing strategy. The students felt motivated about their entrepreneurial skill development and were enlightened about the realities of industrial setups.
The Industrial visit took shape under the overall supervision of Professor Neelu Rohmetra, Dirctor, ICccR & HRM. The purpose has been to provide functional exposure to students in the industrial sector so as to understand best practices being adopted by the companies in the region. Dr. Ridhi Sharma, Dr. Amrinder Singh and Dr. Shafqat Ajaz, faculty members of International Centre for Cross- Cultural Research and Human Resource Management coordinated the industrial visit.
