JAMMU, May 31: Versatile young singer of Jammu Mukteshi Sharma was felicitated here today by Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India for her most outstanding performance of classical and light singing at the Auditorium of Government college for Women, Parade Jammu.
The felicitations were done by Danish Rana, IPS Inspector General of Police, Jammu who was also joined by Regional Director ICCR Jammu Balwant Thakur and Prof Hemla Aggarwal, Principal Government College for Women.
Earlier Mukteshi Sharma literally mesmerized everyone with her soulful singing and the magic spell of her mind-blowing performance continued till the end of the show and the audience also equally responded with repeated applauds.
Speaking on the occasion Balwant Thakur said that this is the right age and the time to felicitate and encourage young versatilities in arts and performing arts. Such occasions will not only inspire many other young performers and artists to excel and succeed but also serve as a big boost to scale ultimate heights in the field. Recounting the historic successes of Mukteshi Sharma, Balwant Thakur said that this young girl set a new record by winning first prize of J&K Academy of Art Culture and languages in classical vocal singing consecutively for seven years. In the year 2008 she won the 3rd prize in country’s most prestigious Shree Harballabh Sangeet Pratiyogita in Jallandhar. After moving to College, Mukteshi set yet another all-time record by winning best singer in classical, Light Classical, and Western solo categories of University of Jammu consecutively for five years. In the year 2015 she won the top honours in Classical solo and western solo in the North Zone Inter-University cultural competition. On the occasion Regional director assured that ICCR will continue it’s endeavour to spot such exceptionally talented artists and will showcase them in it’s programme in a highly professionally manner and efforts will also be made to highlight their programme at National International level.
Prominent among those who attended this rarest solo musical concert ‘Swar Sudha’ by ICCR Jammu included V.K. Sambyal (Station Director All India Radio, Jammu), Prof. Hemla Aggarwal (Principal, Govt. College for Women, Prade), Prof. Kiran Bakshi, Kailash Mehra, K.L.Verma, Vidya Rattan Aasi, Brij Mohan, Kamal Sharma, Vijay Attri, Anita Sharma, Chander Shekhar Cartoonist, Raj Kumar Behrupia, Sumeet Sharma, Subash Langeh, Neelam Langeh, Priya Duta, Prashotam Sharma and Anupama Sharma.
