JAMMU, Oct 10: Army today recovered and defused a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) on the Line of Control (LoC) at Balnoi in Mendhar sector of Poonch district.
Official sources said the alert troops noticed the IED planted on the LoC during routine patrolling of the area and defused it safely.
The IED weighed about five kg and was filled with powerful explosive material capable of causing major casualties and extensive damage.
Sources said troops have averted a major tragedy with recovery of the IED. Few days back, an Army jawan was killed and another injured in a powerful IED blast in the same sector during routine patrolling along the LoC.
