IGNOU Delhi, JMI Delhi, SKUAST Jammu, Punjab University Chandigarh sail into next round

JAMMU, Nov 23: IGNOU, Delhi, JMI, Delhi, SKUAST, Jammu and Punjab University, Chandigarh thrashed their rival teams in their respective league matches and sailed into the next round of the ongoing All India Vice-Chancellor’s T-20 Cricket Tournament held at Jammu University, here today.
In the first league match, IGNOU, Delhi scripted 6 wickets victory over Jalgaon University at Jammu University Main Gate Ground.
Winning the toss, Jalgaon University elected to bat first and made 101 runs for all out in 19.3 overs. Jitender played well and scored 38 runs including five boundaries, while, Rashmikant and Abhimanyu also chipped in 33 and 9 runs respectively.
For IGNOU Delhi side, Darshan Lal was the pick of the bowler with 4 wickets, while Satpal Singh also scalped 3 wickets.
In reply, IGNOU Delhi chased the target in just 14.4 overs for the loss of 4 wickets. Veer Singh scored 28 runs, while Parveen and Arun Kumar made 24 and 20 runs respectively.
For Jalgaon University side, Jayant took 2 wickets, while Snehal and Jitender claimed one wicket apiece.
Darshan Lal was adjudged as man of the match for exhibiting good bowling performance during the match.
In the second league match, JMU, Delhi thrashed DDU, Gorakhpur by 7 wickets and sailed into the next round of the tourney at Jammu University Main Gate Ground, here today.
Batting first, DDU, Gorakhpur scored 98 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in stipulated 20 overs. Santosh chipped in 38 runs with four balls towards the fence, while Manish also made 20 runs.
For JMU Delhi side, Adeel Ahmed and Mohd Fareed took 2 wickets each, while, Sanjay and Saad Karim scalped one wicket apiece.
In the second inning, JMU, Delhi, chased the target in 13.2 overs for the loss of 7 wickets. Adeel Ahmed played well, scored 70 runs and remained not out, while Tarique Hussain also chipped in 9 runs.
For DDU Gorakhpur side, Ravi, Daya and Rajesh scalped one wicket each.
Adeel Ahmed was declared as man of the match for his all round performance.
In the third league match, SKUAST, Jammu registered 10 runs victory over HPU, Shimla and entered into next round of the tournament at Gymnasium Hall Ground, Jammu University.
SKUAST Jammu batting first scored 129 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in allotted 20 overs. Razaq made 43 runs including six boundaries, while Naresh and Bikram made 21 and 18 runs respectively.
For HPU Shimla said, Rajesh was the wrecker-in-chief who scalped 3 wickets, while, Mukesh claimed one wicket.
In reply, HPU Shimla failed to reach the target and bundled out at 119 runs for all out in 19.2 overs. Rajesh C chipped in 44 runs, while Rajesh T and Pushpinder made 23 and 16 runs respectively.
For SKUAST Jammu side, Razak scalped 3 wickets, while Anoop took 2 wickets. Rakesh and Shams-ud-Din also proved their bowling talent and scalped one wicket each.
Razak was declared as man of the match for his all round performance during the match.
In the fourth and last league match of the day, Punjab University (PU), Chandigarh outplayed Punjabi University (PU), Patiala by 7 wickets at Gymnasium Hall Ground, Jammu University.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Punjabi University, Patiala scored 118 runs for all out in 19.4 overs. Jasbir smashed 18 runs, while Pritpal, Gurpreet, Prem Parkash and Harpreet chipped in 16, 13, 12 and 9 runs respectively.
For Punjab University, Chandigarh side, Rahul was the pick of the bowler with 3 wickets, while, Rajesh and Suresh scalped 2 wickets each.
In the second inning, Punjab University, Chandigarh chased the target in 17.3 overs for the loss of just 3 wickets during the process. Rajesh chipped in 46 runs including five boundaries and one lofty six, while Naveen and Ashwani also contributed 31 and 24 runs respectively.
For Punjabi University Patiala side, Gurpreet, Jasbir and Pritpal scalped one wicket apiece.
Rakesh Kumar was adjudged as man of the match for his performance.
The matches were officiated by Saleem-ur-Rehman, Harvinder Singh, Sunil Sharma, Vijay Dogra, Sudhir Singh, Amit Gupta, Suresh Singh, Raman Kumar, Sadiq Hussain and Chandu Kiran.
On the occasion, Prof Dhian Singh Bhau, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu and Organizing Secretary of the tournament, Ravi Gupta, Vice President, JUNTEU, officials of Jammu University and sports lovers were also present.
In tomorrow’s fixture, Jammu University will clash with GB Pant University and Kashmir University will take on GNDU, Amritsar at Jammu University Main Gate ground, whereas, Edu Board, Ajmer will clash with MANUU, Hyderabad and MDS University, Ajmer will take on SKUAST, Kashmir at Gymnasium Hall Grounds.
The matches were held under the supervision of Sunil Sahi, President, Jammu University Non-Teaching Employees Union (JUNTEU) and manager Jammu University team.
