JAMMU, Sept 21: Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu, Rajesh Kumar flagged-off riders’ Expedition ‘Kashmir to Kanyakumari’ from Bahu Plaza today, to cover the length of the nation in 14 days.
According to the organizers ‘Himalyan Harley-Davidson Sterling Mobikes Private Limited’, the objective of the Expedition is to create awareness about ‘Saving the Girl Child’.
The team of 6 riders, all on the famed Harley Davidson Motor Bikes, is being led by Anushriya Gulati, 19 year old lady driver from Dehradun. The other members of the team include Ankush Gulati from Dehradun, Sumpreet Singh from Ludhiana, Karan Chahal from Patiala, Aryaman Sethi from Dehradun and Navdeep Sidhu from Chandigarh.
The team is being accompanied by some local riders up to certain distance and prominent among those are Sachin Verma, Manish Suri and Divij Suri.
Starting from Jammu today on Sunday, the team will move from Amritsar to Agra on Monday, from Agra to Sagar on Tuesday and from Sagar to Nagpur to Hyderabad to Southern HOG Rally, Bangalore, Madurai, Kanyakumari, Kovalam, Rameshwaran to Pudduchery on the following days.
Earlier, the team members were introduced to the chief guest, other dignitaries and the spectators by Dr Vikram Handa and Gurpreet Handa from Tiny Tots group, who organized the flag off ceremony and made allied arrangements for the riders in Jammu.
Talking to EXCELSIOR, Anushriya Gulati said that being part of the ‘unique’ Expedition for a noble cause of ‘Saving Girl Child’ is an amazing feeling, adding that despite having full measure of the limitations of women, she will leave no stone unturned in spreading the message and serving the noble cause to make the Expedition successful.
Speaking on the occasion, IGP Jammu lavished praise on the riders as also on the organizers in taking this initiative for the noble cause and encouraged them to take up more expeditions in future as well.
He urged the riders as also the gathering to follow traffic rules strictly and ride bikes with all precautionary measures.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Ranjeet Kalra, member BCCI and Advocate Ahtshyam.
