IGP Jammu inaugurates JKOA’s Special Coaching Camp

JAMMU, July 15: A fortnight-long Special Coaching Camp in eight sports disciplines, being organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Olympic Association (JKOA) was inaugurated by SD Singh Jamwal, Inspector General of Police Jammu in an impressive and well attended function at Amar Singh Club, here today.
Around 125 campers and coaches drawn from 8 disciplines were present in proper uniform on the occasion.
The chief guest was received by the office bearers and working committee members and was introduced to the campers by President JKOA Dushyant Sharma and other officials.
The disciplines include Athletics, Boxing, Basketball, Fencing, Gymnastics, Weightlifting, Wrestling and Wushu.
According to the organisers, the aim of the Coaching Camp is to prepare the teams prior to the participation for the forthcoming National Games.
Prof Ashutosh Sharma, Vice President, Indian Olympic Association and Secretary General J&K Olympic Association gave a brief account of participation of State teams in the National games, their performance and the difficulties faced by J&K Olympic Association while sending the teams, for paucity of funds, lack of infrastructure and requisite equipment
Earlier, welcoming the chief guest Dushyant Sharma assured to make all out efforts to see that the players put up a nice show and convert their performance into medals.
Vote of thanks was presented by Sidharth Daluja, Treasurer of the Association.
