IISM Gulmarg concludes 5th Snow Skiing Course

GULMARG, Feb 28: The Indian Institute of Skiing & Mountaineering (IISM), Gulmarg, today concluded its fifth Snow Skiing Course. The course saw an impressive participation of 98 students, with 62 enrolled in the basic category, 16 in the intermediate and 9 in the advanced course. Expert instructors led the rigorous training sessions, refining the students’ skiing skills and enhancing their proficiency on the slopes.
During the course, trainees were introduced to key skiing techniques such as kick turn, snow plough, snow plough turn and various parallel turns. All participants demonstrated commendable progress, reflecting their dedication and hard work throughout the course.
Notably, IISM also launched its inaugural MOI (Method of Instruction) course, attracting 11 students. This initiative marks a significant expansion of the institute’s offerings, aiming to develop skilled instructors for future generations of skiers.
The event was graced by Renu Bamrara, AD (T), who presented awards to top performers and certificates to all successful trainees. She lauded the efforts of the participants and instructors, acknowledging IISM’s crucial role in shaping India’s winter sports future. IISM continues to strengthen its commitment to fostering a thriving winter sports culture in India.
