JAMMU, Dec 2: In a stride towards bridging the chasm between traditional education and cutting-edge technologies, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu unveiled an extensive 2.5-month workshop on drone technology.
Sanctioned under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana 4.0 (PMKVY 4.0) scheme, this pioneering initiative seeks to empower recent graduates with specialized expertise in drone manufacturing and assembly technology, cultivating a fresh cohort of industry-ready professionals.
Encompassing critical facets of drone technology, participants will delve into the intricacies of drone components and structures, comprehend the fundamental principles governing drone flight, engage in lifelike scenarios via drone flight simulators, gain hands-on proficiency in drone assembly and assimilate insights into workplace ethics and safety protocols.
The well-rounded curriculum ensures a comprehensive understanding, amalgamating theoretical knowledge with practical applications, paving the way for participants to emerge as proficient professionals in the burgeoning drone industry.
A cohort of distinguished individuals from the industry and academia graced the workshop to witness firsthand the progress and impact of this program. Among them were Prof Prabhat Munshi (Visiting Professor at IIT Jammu) and MD Seshadri from Lockheed Martin, who engaged with the course students, sharing their profound knowledge and experiences.
The programme is headed by Dr Vijay Pal (Assistant Professor MED) under the guidance of institute Director, Prof Manoj Singh Gaur. Dr Pal is equally supported by a dedicated team of trainers, including Aman Arora and Neeraj Kumar. Trainers emphasized practical application, ensuring that theoretical knowledge is seamlessly integrated into real-world scenarios.
The drone industry, permeating applications in agriculture, surveillance, logistics, and beyond, is undergoing unparalleled expansion, generating a heightened demand for skilled professionals.
