JAMMU, Apr 28: In a major operation, the Forest Department team from Jammu Division today dismantled an illegal saw mill in Miran Sahib area today.
Official sources said that illegal saw mill owned and operated by Shiv Dass, son of Late Lal Chand, resident of village Talli Morh, Railway Patri Miran Sahib Jammu was dismantled by a team of Jammu Forest Division led by Ajit Chander, Range Officer, Bahu.
The whole operation was carried out under the supervision of Dr VS Senthil Kumar, Divisional Forest Officer Jammu. The DFO said that that the said saw mill was functioning illegally. There was resistance from the owner of the saw mill but the situation was handled and the parts of saw mill were seized.
The Forest Offence Report (FOR) has been registered against owner of the illegal saw mill for violation of SRO 103 and under various sections of J&K Forest Act.
Senthil Kumar added that department has started the dismantling operation in Jammu Forest Division and illegal saw mills will be dismantled, wherever, they are functioning in the jurisdiction of the division.
Roshan Jaggi, Chief Conservator of Forests and BM Sharma, Conservator of Forests, East Circle Jammu, have appreciated the efforts of field staff and appealed the saw mill owners to adhere the law and SRO 103 of 2012.
