Srinagar, Dec 29: The Forest Range, Kokernag today seized 191 Sqft of illegal timber from Sonabrari area of south Kashmir while also registering a case in this regard.
The officials in the district said that on the directions of Range Officer Kokernag, a special team was constituted led by Forestor Kokernag Mohammad Abbas.
The team, along with other officials of the department, after receiving a tip-off swung into action and seized 191 Sqft illegal timber from the possession of three persons in Sonabrari area of the district
They said that a case under relevant sections of law has also been registered in Police Post Kokernag vide FIR No. 163/220.
The officials said that the department is committed to stopping such illegal activities and at the same time will ensure that the violators are brought to book.
They also said that more such drives would be conducted in coming days to protect the green gold.
