JAMMU, Feb 20: An impressive Shoba Yatra was taken out by Guru Ravi Dass Sabha J&K on the eve of 633rd Jayanti of Guru Ravi Dass falling on February 22.
Thousands of devotees’ drawn from different parts of Jammu along with scores of jhankis depicting various aspects of Guru Ji’s life participated in the Shoba Yatra.
The Shoba Yatra was taken out by J&K Guru Ravi Dass Sabha Jammu with the active support and cooperation of people from all walks of life.
The participants’ enroute were chanting bhajans in praise of Guru Ravi Dass –a spiritual saint of India. The Shoba Yatra started from Guru Ravi Dass Gurudwara Krishna Nagar and it passed via J P Chowk, Bus Stand, Indira Chowk, Parade, Raj Tilak Road, Purani Mandi, City Chowk, Raghunath Bazar, Sunder Singh Gurudwara and Swami Vivekananda Chowk before culminating at Hari Singh Park.
The authorities had made elaborate arrangements for the yatra and traffic was diverted from other routes for smooth passage of Shoba Yatra.
At Hari Singh Park Bhajan Kirtan was performed and Advisor to Governor Pervez Dewan was also present on the concluding ceremony. He paid his obeisance to Guru Ji.
The people enroute greeted the Shoba yatra and various markets of the city were fully decorated befitting the occasion. Besides the Bazar associations, some activists of social organizations also greeted the Shoba Yatra at various places in the city.
At Indira Chowk the Shoba Yatra was greeted by BJP SC Morcha activists led by Surinder Bhagat. On the occasion State president Sat Sharma, vice president Yudhvir Sethi, general secretary, Pawan Khajruia , MLA Rajesh Gupta and other leaders were present.
President Guru Ravi Dass Sabha Piran Dita said that the Shoba Yatra is taken every year two days ahead of Guru Ji’s Jayanti.
