Improving strike capability

Our defence establishment cannot be complacent about the security of our long coastline from the Arabian Sea to the Indian Ocean to the Bay of Bengal. Our navy bears heavy burden of defending our shores in view of two belligerent neighbours who have formed sort of unholy alliance against us. Successful test firing of Russian designed 290 km-range BrahMos supersonic anti-ship cruise missile is another feather in the cap of our defence research organization. The test firing took place from war ship INS Kolkata off Karnataka shore. The BrahMos will be assigned to the sub-marines and land forces also. It is known that already BrahMos missile has been deployed on western and eastern fronts. It will be delivered to the Army.
In recent past, Defence Ministry had come under criticism for not providing adequate funds and wherewithal to the Indian Naval Force, for using old batteries and the resultant accidents in the navy that caused loss of precious lives of our navy personnel. We are not in a position to say many words on a subject that is seldom brought to the public domain. But we are confident that under the new Government all necessary requirements for our navy to be the strongest in the region will be provided. We cannot compromise our security and defence preparedness. Navy needs to be modernized and we must bear the cost because it is unavoidable. Indian Ocean is attaining unprecedented commercial and strategic importance in contemporary geo-politics. India is the main power in the Indian Ocean and we shall have to assert our naval supremacy in any case.  We congratulate our scientists, technocrats and engineers for achieving brilliant success ain test firing BrahMos supersonic missile. We are confident that very soon our navy shall be a par with advanced navies in the world.
