JAMMU, Nov 12: Advisor to Chief Minister, Prof. Amitabh Mattoo, today exhorted upon educationists to inculcate problem solving, analytical, creative and collaborative skills in students so that they contribute towards development of the society.
Prof Mattoo said this while addressing a large gathering of students, parents and educationists during the 82nd foundation day function of Model Institute of Education and Research (MIER) at its B.C Road campus.
Speaking on the occasion, Mattoo said that State Government has initiated multiple initiatives in the field of education to improve literacy rates in the state with focus on rural and far flung areas.
He further said Education Minister Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, under the leadership of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti is committed to ensure that quality education is made accessible to all students in the State.
Congratulating MIER on their efforts to impart quality education to the students besides enthusing in them high ethical values, Mattoo expressed optimism that the institute will carry forwards its objective with the same spirit.
Earlier, Chairperson MIER Dr Arun K Gupta presented welcome address, while Director MIER later-on presented vote of thanks.
On the occasion, a cultural programme was presented by the students of the institute.
Prof Mattoo presented mementos to the students who had won medals at different national level sports events.
