Independence Day celebrated with patriotic fervour

JAMMU, Aug 17: Many social organizations, Army units and educational institutions today celebrated Independence Day with great patriotic fervor by organizing various types of cultural and other programmes.
To commemorate 70th Independence Day, Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu (JU) in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages organized ‘Jashn E Azadi’, a cultural programme featuring the music and dances of Jammu at Brig Rajinder Singh Auditorium, JU. JU Vice Chancellor, Prof RD Sharma was the chief guest at the occasion. A painting and slogan writing completion, besides mass singing of National Anthem was also being organized.
Amidst hoisting of National Flag, Team Jammu celebrated 70th Independence Day by taking a pledge to fight against the menace of drugs. More than 1000 youth took a pledge to root out the menace of drugs from the society. A number of children, who were special invitees, hoisted the Tricolour amidst slogans like ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’, ‘Jai Jammu, Jio Jammu’. Pointing out that Pakistan was sponsoring Narco-Terrorism in Jammu region, Zorawar Singh Jamwal explained that after remaining failed to instigate troubles in Jammu and its patriotic youth, the neighbouring country has now adopted this new mode to devastate the entire generation of the land of Dogras.
Rashtriya Rifles Battalion at Topa, part of Romeo Force has dedicated itself by celebrating Independence Day with the children of various schools and the youths of the villages through various initiatives including conducting of games, lectures, cultural programmes, debates, screening of movies and amity meetings with the villagers. The unit also took this opportunity to educate the youths on road safety and ill effects of drugs.
Aadarsh Bhartiya Samaj celebrated 70th Independence Day with enthusiasm and gaiety. Ex-Subedar Balbir Singh hoisted the National Flag on behalf of the Samaj. A colourful cultural programme including as group songs, dances, speeches and poems was presented by the students of Unique Public Higher Secondary School, Karan Bagh. Jammu. Col (Retd) RK Sharma, chairman and Daljeet Singh, president, ABS, spoke on the importance of Independence Day.
Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic zeal at Gandhi Memorial College of Education, Raipur, Bantalab. Prof Satish Talashi, Principal of the College, unfurled the Tricolour followed by the National Anthem. The students presented a captivating cultural bonanza focused on patriotism which includes number of heart throbbing dances, plays and skits. The campus echoed with patriotic fervour as students brought the stage alive with their speeches. General Secretary (HESK), AK Raina, also graced the occasion.
Heritage School Junior Section celebrated the Independence Day by organizing a fancy dress competition. This was an apt occasion to pay homage to the valiant freedom fighters who had laid down their lives in selfless service towards the nation. The children donned the attire of their favourite iconic freedom fighters. The slogan “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” resonated through the air infusing enthusiasm amongst one and all.
The premises of St Mary’s Infant Pre School echoed with patriotic fervour as the tiny tots along with the staff of school celebrated Independence week amid an ambience of solemnity and grandeur. A melange of patriotic activities was organized throughout the week to rekindle students’ love and passion for the motherland. Students gave scintillating stage performances which included beautiful pieces of dance performances. The air reverberated with patriotism when students paid homage to freedom fighters through their soulful poetry and spirited skits. The celebration culminated with unfurling of the Tricolour by Rajesh Bakshi, Member, Cantonment Board, Jammu Cantt.
Kendriya Vidyalaya Sunjuwan organized ‘Freedom Run’ to commemorate 70th Independence Day. About 200 students participated and waved the flag of India all around Sunjuwan Cantt. The students distributed the hand-made greeting cards to the Jawans.
Independence Day was celebrated in Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Dansal with full enthusiasm. National Flag was unfurled by acting Tehsildar of Dansal, Rafiq Ahmed Jaral along with Principal, Vijay Kumar. Students of about 14 schools participated in the function and presented various cultural items.
Government Mixed Higher Secondary School, Roop Nagar celebrated 70th Independence Day with great fervor in the school premises. The Tricolour was unfurled by Principal of the school, AK Bhat. The staff members and students of the institution sang National Anthem. Thereafter, students presented colourful programmes.
An impressive programme was held in connection with Independence Day at GHSS Jhiri. Principal, RD Bhagat, hoisted the National Flag, which was followed by National Anthem. In the end, sweets were distributed among the students.
In connection with Independence Day celebration, a seminar was held on communal harmony and National integration in GHSS (Boys) Devak, Sunderbani. Principal of the School, Pishori Lal Bhardwaj, gave a lecture on National integration and communal harmony. The students of surrounding schools also participated in the programme. The organizer of the seminar, Lekh Raj Raina, recited a beautiful poem on communal harmony and National integration.
Vikrant Kranti Manch International celebrated Independence Day in HLF Higher Secondary School. Chief Guest, KS Samyal, a social reformer and coordinator, Senior Citizen Rejuvenation Centre hoisted the Tricolour. It was followed by National Anthem. A colorful ‘March Past’ was displayed by the students of the schools. Patriotic songs were sung by the students.
Saluting the Nation and its freedom fighters on 70th Independence Day, Jyoti Parihar Public High School, Rajpura Mangotrian, celebrated Independence Day with unfurling Tri-colour in school premises. A debate competition was also organized besides presentation of patriotic songs by the students.
Swami Vivekananda Memorial High School Chakhar (Udhampur) celebrated Independence Day with great pomp and show. The students were given demo regarding the grand occasion. They actively participated in the celebration by singing group songs and presenting a dance item. The celebrations began with unfurling of Tri-color by School Principal, Ram Parkash Sharma. The students also delivered speeches regarding the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters.
Bharat Public High School, Gadigarh celebrated the Independence Day with fervor and gaiety. Principal, AN Sharma, unfurled the Tricolour. In his speech, he asked the students to work with honesty to develop the country at every aspect. He also remembered the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters.
Government Girls High School (GGHS) Sattani, Udhampur also celebrated 70th Independence Day in its school premises. Mridula Sharma, Headmaster of the school, unfurled the National flag and took salute from March Past of all the contingents decorated in traditional dresses. Various colorful cultural programmes including patriotic and folk songs were presented by the students.
The Independence Day celebrations were also held at GGHS Janipur Colony. Various cultural items were presented by the students and National songs were song. All the students and staff members paid rich homage to all our freedom fighters. In the end, sweets were distributed among the students.
The Independence Day was also celebrated by Government Middle School (GMS) Karlah (Patnitop). A Maharashtra team also graced the occasion and presented the “Tricolor” to Puran Chand, Sarpanch of Panchayat Halqa Karlah. The prizes were also distributed among the students.
GMS Railway Colony celebrated Independence Day with great fervor. Incharge Headmaster, Suresh Sharma, hoisted the National Flag. The students sang National Anthem, patriotic songs and presented beautiful folk dances.
Independence Day celebration was also held with great fervour at GMS Dhounthly. Chief guest, MLA Rajesh Gupta, unfurled the National Flag. The programme began with Saraswati Vandana performed by the students. ZEO Jammu, Nirmala Pandita, was the guest of honour. The cultural activities were presented by the students.
Badri Nath Shiv Mandir, Arorian Di Chapri (New Plot) celebrated Independence Day with great pomp and show. Parshotam Lal Abrol, president of the temple committee, hoisted the Tricolour in the presence of other committee members.
The Independence Day also celebrated by people of Adarsh Vihar, Sainik Colony. National Flag was unfurled by Balwant Singh, a social worker of the area. Sweets were also distributed among the students.
Narwal Pain Satwari Cantt Mohalla Welfare Committee also celebrated 70th Independence Day. The Tricolour was hoisted by Hardev Singh, Member, Cantonment Board. Slogans like ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ raised holding flags in hands to show solidarity, brotherhood and unity of the country.
