MELBOURNE: Riding on superb batting performance, India posted 184 for three in the second T20 international  match against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground here today.

Put to bat first by the hosts, India got off to a solid start as openers Rohit Sharma(60) and Shikhar Dhawan (42)  slammed 97 runs in first 10 overs.

Dhawan, who surpassed his previous highest score of 33 was then caught by Chris Lynn at backward point while trying to reverse sweeps off to Maxwell.

After the fall of Dhawan’s wicket, Virat Kohli (59 not out) joined Rohit sharma and anchored the Indian innings to a challenging total but Rohit was run not while trying to steal a second run leaving India 143 for two.

Following it, skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni joined Kohli and scored a quickfire 14 in 9 balls which included two fours.

For Australia, AJ Tye and Glen Maxwell were the pick of the bowlers with one wicket apeice. (AGENCIES)
