“Otherwise India always had scientific talent, human resources, and innovation capacity, but the priorities at the level of policy planners and political leadership were different,” he said, adding that gap has been filled by PM Modi, who has a scientific temperament.
“On the day, when we are observing Teachers Day, there are some reasons to believe that if not teachers, at least we have become cue master in science for rest of the world,” said the Union Minister while listing achievements and initiatives of his Government, particularly in the field of science and technology.
Describing the institutes of science and technology as monuments of modern India, Dr Jitendra Singh stressed the need to change mindset of common people, who are beneficiary of the scientific advancement in their day to day requirements but have failed to recognize the same. He suggested that we should project these scientific establishments.
“I am going to write all Education Ministries of each State and Union Territory to design itineraries for the students who should visit these monuments of modern India. It will be fascinating for the students besides motivating young brains not only to take up the scientific pursuit but also to work out how best they can plan a career out of it,” said the Union Minister.
In addition to DWR system installed today, Dr Jitendra Singh referred to several new scientific establishments set up in the region during the last few years under the Modi Government, which included North India’s first Biotech Industrial Park at Kathua, North India’s first Space/ISRO Centre at Central University, India’s lavender led Purple Revolution and first Cannabis Medicinal Plant launched by IIIM Jammu, the first -ever National Institute of High Altitude Medicine at Bhaderwah, the first- ever Mega -quintal Seed Processing Plant at Kathua, latest Weather forecast instrument installed at Sanjhi Chhat for convenience of Vaishno Devi pilgrims, high altitude Radio Relay Station at Patnitop, etc. He said that these are all monuments of New Jammu.
Taking a dig at opposition parties and critics of Modi Government for rejecting claims of development in the last seven years, Dr Jitendra Singh alleged that such people were making statements with a prejudiced mind while sitting in drawing rooms. “Eyes see what mind knows and these critics don’t want to see these monuments of developments,” he added.
Dr Jitendra Singh said, the X-Band Doppler Weather Radar installed today will help in providing real-time monitoring and reporting of weather events affecting Jammu region and will be helpful in providing weather forecasts in different sectors including agriculture and tourism forecast especially for the pilgrims of Mata Vaishno Devi.
