India take command but rain plays spoilsport

HYDERABAD, Aug 25:
Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin produced career-best figures of six for 31 as India enforced the follow-on against New Zealand in the first cricket Test but their push for an early 1-0 lead was hampered by inclement weather here today.
The New Zealand first innings folded up for a paltry 159 as Ashwin and left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha, who took three for 44, shared the bulk of the spoils as the hosts took a huge 279-run first innings lead on the third day.
In their second innings, New Zealand were 41 for one when umpires decided to call off play because of rain. Only 37.3 overs of play was possible today.(PTI)
