Indian cultural delegation at China International Folk Art Festival

JAMMU, Aug 10: Balwant Thakur, Regional Director, Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Jammu, alongwith Director General of ICCR,  C  Rajashekher and other members of the Indian Cultural Delegation,   called on  Hu Sishe, Vice President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries at Beijing, China here today.
The members of Indian Cultural Delegation were given a warm reception at Taijichang, the headquarters of cultural and educational exchanges of China. The Vice President of Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries desired to have much closer cultural and educational ties as both the countries have lot of similarities to share and explore to further strengthen cultural and mutual relations between India and China.
On the invitation of China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, a four member cultural delegation of India is on a tour to China to attend 10th China International Folk Art Festival which is currently going on in Xining city of China. The Indian cultural delegation is headed by C Rajashekhar, Director General of  ICCR include Dr K S Rao, Secretary Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi and Padmashree Pratibha Prahlad, Director Delhi International Festival of Arts and Padmashree Balwant Thakur, Regional Director ICCR, Jammu.
During their stay in China, this delegation of India is also travelling to Beijing, Nanjing and Shanghai. The other reception, interactive programmes and meetings of Indian Cultural Delegation include the programmes with Ministry of Arts and Culture, China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, Association of writers, dancers and theatre of China.
ICCR is holding the year of India in China during the year 2017 and this cultural delegation of India is assigned to inspect and have a close look review of the arts infrastructure in China so as to enable the festival designers to design the world class showcasing of India’s Cultural and intellectual strengths in China.
Earlier, the Indian cultural delegation was given a warm reception at Xining city of China where they participated in the opening of 10th China International Folk Art Festival in which they witnessed the spectacular performances by USA, Philippines, China, South Korea, Japan, Kyrgyz Republic, Magnolia, Netherlands, Ireland, Finland, Fiji, Argentina and India.
