Indian Physically Challenged Cricket team for World Cup to be picked in Jammu

JAMMU, Apr 17: The Jammu and Kashmir Physically Challenged Cricket Association (J&KPCCA) in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) will host the prestigious selection matches to pick the probable for the Indian team to represent the country in the World Cup for Physically Challenged Cricketers to be hosted by England and Wales Cricket Board from August 3 to August 17, 2019 in England.
The selection matches will be held at GGM Science College Hostel Ground, Jammu from April 20 to April 23, 2019.
The matches will be conducted under the chairmanship of Syed Ashiq Hussain Bukhari, CEO JKCA, while Jang Bahadur Singh Jamwal, Member JKCA will be the Co-Chairman.
Ravi Chouhan, Founder Secretary of Physically Challenged Cricket Association of India (PCCAI); Directors J&K PCCA Satish Gupta and Sukhjinder Singh; Vice President of J&K PCCA, Ashish Singh and Sports Advisor of J&K PCCA, Sanjeev Mahajan will be the members of the Organising Committee, while Rajesh Gill, Honourary President J&K PCCA and Rajesh Dhar, Honourary Secretary of J&K PCCA will be the Coordinators of the selection matches.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Committee of Administrators (COA) BCCI has already given nod to the Physically Challenged Cricket Association of India for participation of Indian Team in the World Cup for Physically Challenged Cricketers.
The three teams of Physically Challenged Cricketers participating in the selection trial matches for the first ever World Cup, following the ICC men’s World Cup, will be named after the martyred CRPF soldiers who lost their lives on February 14, 2019 at Pulwama in Valley.
Uttar Pradesh’s Vinay Yadav will lead Martyr Ramesh Yadav XI, while Himachal Pradesh’s Yashpal will lead Capt Martyr Raj Tilak XI and J&K’s Mohd Nadeem will lead Martyr Naseer Ahmed XI.
“J&K is having around 40 disabled cricketers in the State and most of them have already participated in national level tournaments and one player namely Jagmohan has represented the national team in the International event ‘India-Afganistan Series’ held in 2017 at Nioda,” organisers said.
They said that they feel honoured to inform that 8 players from Jammu and Kashmir will be participating in these selection matches for the World Cup.
