Indian team leaves to participate in Basketball World Cup

Jammu, Mar 26: Indian team comprising of 12 players, sponsored by School Games Federation of India (SGFI) today left for their participation in the under 18 ISF Basketball World Cup Championship commencing from March 28 at Cyprus.
In a send off function held today at Alwar, Rajasthan, Rajesh Mishra, general secretary, SCFI, KS Moti, Pardip Arya, Chairman, Municipal Council Alwar, Harish Arora, senior citizen were present.
The Indian contingent will be led by Ashok Kumar, Vice president of SGFI and Director Sports, SMVDU, Katra as Chief-De-Mission.
Manoj Sharma from Maharashtra will be the team manager, while Abhay Chavan from Maharashtra as chief coach, Akhilesh Singh from Rajasthan and Naresh Mudgal from SAI as assistant coaches.
The players, who are representing India in the championship, are Ishwari Pingale, Soumya Babbar, Shruthi Memon, Shriya Joshi, Sakhi Pandey, Princy Rathore, Ayushi Bolia, Kamlesh Taragi, Gagandeep Kaur, Varsha Nandini, Dikshanda and Kalpana Patel.
In the championship, 24 countries are participating including India, Turkey, Luxemburg and Finland.
