Inian P of TN, Aakanksha of Maharashtra lift Sub Jr National Chess titles

JAMMU, Sept 29: Inian P of Tamilnadu won the title by scoring 9 points in boys section in the ongoing 41st National Sub Junior Chess Championship, while Aakanksha Hagwane of Maharashtra won the title in girls section by scoring 8.5 points in the 32nd National Sub Junior Chess Championship for girls.
Top 4 boys and top one girl will represent India in World Youth Olympiad while top 6 boys and top six girls will be sent for two exposure trips of Russia and Spain by All India Chess Federation.
Among the J&K players, Meenal Gupta scored highest 6 points in girls section, while Soham Kamotra scored highest 5.5 points in boys section.
Secretary J&K State Sports Council Javaid Ahmed Shah was chief guest on closing ceremony, who distributed cash prizes worth Rs.2 lakh and trophies among the winners and wished them good luck for International events.
Joint Secretary J&K Sports Council, Shiv Kumar Sharma, Chief Sports Officer J&K Sports Council, Abdul Qayoom, Divisional Sports Officer Jammu, Rajan Sharma and Member J&K Sports Council, Ranjit Kalra were guests of honour.
President “All J&K Chess Association” and also joint secretary All India Chess Federation Atul Kumar Gupta, general secretary All J&K Chess Association, Ashiq Ahmed Kolu, vice president Taranvir Singh Gujral,Vikas Nanda, Dr A S Bhatia were also present on the occasion.
184 players from 26 States of India participated in this sports extravaganza held in the State  of Jammu and Kashmir.
Tournament was organized by All J&K Chess Association and was sponsored   by J&K Sports Council.
Nitin Shenvi of Maharashtra was the chief Arbiter of this event and he was supported by six deputy arbiters, while 10 other special assistants also supported in the smooth conduct of the event.
Top 18 players in men’s section included Inian P , Mitrabha Guha, Raghunandan  Kaumandur Srihari, Nitish Belurkar, Jayakumaar S, Aradhya Garg, Srijit Paul, Rathanvel VS, Rakesh Kumar Jena, Kumar Gaurav, Bharat Kalyan M, Praggnanandhaa R, Hirthickkesh Pr, Sankalp Gupta, Rajdeep Sarkar, Harikrishnan A, Devansh Ratti and Aansh Gupta, while the top 18 players in girls section included Aakanksha Hagwane, Vaishali R, Priyanka K, Ghosh Samriddhaa, Priyanka Nutakki, Vantika Agarwal, Chitlange Sakshi, Ananya Suresh, Tejaswini Sagar, Pandey Srishti, Arpita Mukherji, Harshita Guddanti, Sunyuktha CMN, Sneha GPS, Bhanot Stuti, Isha Sharma, Harshini A and Makhija Aashna.
While talking to EXCELSIOR, a big bunch of the players lavished praise on the organizers for holding this mega event in a systemic way. They said that this was the best ever championship they have participated so far.
